Friday, February 27th, 2009

The healthcare profession term a swollen prostate benign prostate hyperplasia, or BPH. In layman’s terms this actually means that the prostate, a gland similar in shape to a walnut sited just under the bladder and wrapping around the urethra, becomes larger and can impair and even stop urinary flow. The prostatic gland grows with maturity and can lead to symptoms for example problems passing water, weak urinary stream, and even the retention of urine within the bladder. Nighttime frequency and even inflammation of the urinary pathway can also be result from an enlarged prostatic gland.

What Is BPH? Benign Prostate Hyperplasia is considered a commonplace condition of men in their 60’s. It is suggested that males in their fifties are examined by their personal physicians on an annual basis, irrespective of the presentation of symptoms, to aid in maintenance of improved prostatic health. Seek medical treatment immediately if the urine or if unable to pass water.

Orthodox interventions for an enlarged prostate may include surgical procedures or the use of drugs. Regrettably, erectile troubles and loss of normal bladder control may be experienced as a result of a surgical procedure. Hypertension treatments or drugs which reduce the abnormal prostate gland may also be suggested to improve prostate health, but medicinal drugs frequently lead to undesirable repercussions what alternatives are available? Lisbon Tsunami Predicted.

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Their Last Goodbye!

People went about their daily routine unaware that an earthquake or Tsunami was about to strike. Mothers walked their children to school, fathers kissed their wives and children goodbye as they left for work, unaware that this was their last and that their worst nightmare was about to begin. Everything seemed normal. There was no indication or warning that the capital of Lisbon was about to be swallowed up into history.

Was it predicted?

It was predicted that there would be signs in the sun, moon, and stars and that the powers in heaven would be shaken. The sun would be black as sackcloth of hair, the moon as blood, and the stars will fall from heaven, indicating that the God of creation will soon appear for the second time. These prophecies were fulfilled before the nineteenth century. Then, in 1755 the most horrific earthquake ever recorded by mortal man took place, commonly known as the Lisbon earth.

It quaked mightily.

The earthquake extended to the greater part of Europe, Africa, and America. It was also felt in Greenland, The West Indies, Madeira, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, and Ireland. It pervaded no less than four million square miles. The shock was almost as severe in Africa as it was in Europe. Algiers was almost destroyed. A village near Morocco, with approximately 10,000 people, was engulfed as a result of this earthquake. A large wave swept over Spain and Africa swallowing up cities and causing destruction to a great magnitude.

Most Affected.

Spain and Portugal were most affected by the extreme violence of the earthquake. The wave in Cadiz was sixty feet high, and the highest mountains in Portugal were shaken from their foundations some even opening up their summits. As these mountains split, large masses were thrown down into nearby valleys engulfing them in flames.

Sound of Thunder Underground!

The sound of thunder was heard underground in Lisbon. Then, a violent shock threw down the greater part of the city. One minute later, 60,000 people lost their lives.

Sea Pretended

The sea reseeded into its boundary, then rolled in again, rising more than 50 feet! Unfortunately, a large number of people took shelter on a newly built marble quay, believing that they were beyond the reach of fallen ruins, but then suddenly, the quay sank and everyone perished. Not one dead body resurfaced.

It happened on a Holy day.

The earthquake came on a holy day. The churches and convents were filled with worshipers, hardly any one escaped as these large buildings and houses fell. Two hours later, fire broke out in a rage of violence that the city was completely desolated. The terror was indescribable. The people were terrified beyond tears. They ran in every direction, delirious with horror and astonishment! They beat their faces and breasts as they cried; ‘The world’s at an end!’

How could Mothers forget?

Mothers forgot their children while they ran with their crucifix images. Many ran to the churches for protection, but in vain! Images, priests, and people were all buried in the ruins of the city. It was estimated that, on the day, 90,000 people lost their lives.

The Dark Day.

In 1780, an unexplained phenomenon occurred. The whole visible heavens and atmosphere in New England was darkened. The Sun rose clear but soon it was overcast. Lighting flashed, thunder rolled, and a little rain fell. Then, a heavy black cloud spread over the entire sky only a few minutes later. Peoples’ minds were filled with awe, fear and anxiety. The day became so dark that people started returning from work. Candles were lit, fowls retired to their roosts, cattle gathered at the pasture bars, frogs croaked, birds sang their evenings songs, and bats flew about. However, people knew that night had not come! Ministers of the gospel knew that the darkness was supernatural and was a Scriptural based prophecy. The darkness was so dense that people could not tell the hour by watch or clock, to do so, they had to light a candle.

Warning!

As people, we are commissioned to watch for the signs of Christ’s Second Advent and we are to rejoice as we see Bible prophecies being fulfilled. This indicates that Christ is about to burst the clouds of heaven. Christ points his followers to the budding trees of spring because when the trees starts to bud the world knows that summer is near. Likewise, when you see Bible prophecies come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is soon to come!

Parting Cry!

Wake up! Don’t delay, because the sky is about to unleash its mysteries.

Personal Development & Success – “Creating the Motivation You Need”

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Have you ever heard someone say something like, “I haven’t felt motivated lately,” or, “I’ll do it as soon as I feel motivated enough?” I know that I have and, truth be known, am guilty of using these and similar phrases myself. You see, I, like many others, used to believe that action only happens through motivation. That, I must wait around for the so-called “feeling to move me” before I will get anything accomplished.

Well, I was wrong. And I believe that I was wrong for two reasons. First is that I was unable to see the ‘big picture’ – the reason that the ‘thing’ had to be done in the first place and how that ‘thing’ relates to other things that I wanted to accomplish, do, enjoy, etc.

And secondly because, quite frankly, I just didn’t know how I operated. Oh sure, I liked to believe that I was in control of myself, but why then was I not able to motivate myself if I did indeed have so much control?

Motivation is really like creativity, or any other drive or impulse. We can wait around for it to magically appear, which it often does and often at the most inopportune times (remember all the really great ideas you’ve had while driving down the road without a notebook or tape recorder to capture it? Or how about the times we’re motivated to do something cool that our friends or family would really like but everyone else’s schedule doesn’t fit our ‘moment of brilliance.’ Remember?

No, the secret with motivation is to realize that it cannot be relied on to create action. It does, but in no predictable, usable way. Without the unpredictable variable such as luck, coincidence and the like, to rely on an emotional impulse such as motivation to drive us forward is like waiting for food to appear in your cupboards without going to the store to buy it.

How then do we create motivation? The answer, ironically, is in the question itself. How do we create . . .?

To create anything, we take action – we have to ‘do’ something. And actions themselves come in three forms – as thoughts – as speech – and, of course, as physical deeds. It is here that we find the necessary ingredients for ‘creating’ the motivation we need.

How? Let’s take a look at the grocery scenario and ask another question: “What motivates us to go shopping for groceries in the first place?

Most people would answer, “I don’t have any food in the house.” But, a Ninja looking at the bigger picture would ask another question focused on the “why.” Why don’t I have groceries in the house? Because I or someone else ate them. Actions preceding the need for motivation is precisly what ’causes’ the motivation to occur. Once we understand this little secret, we are then free to use the same formula to do it again and again.

Groceries are one thing, you say but, what about my goals. After all, groceries are a necessity, my goals are just dreams, wants, and wishes.

Here-in lies the answer to my first problem. Remember?

Right. The inability to ’see’ (a mental action) how my goal was a necessary part of living the life I wanted to live. Because, once I was able to see how vital it was that I attain my goal – how I could not accomplish other things I wanted to do, I was then endowed with all the motivation I could handle to do what needed to be done.

So, it is true that motivation leads to action, but only, and I mean only, after it is caused into being by a previous action. There must be something in place, a thought or dream, a promise (verbal action), or something that must be handled (like an assailant’s attack) that requires action NOW, before motivation will be the compelling drive for us to move.

Can you imagine using the same excuse for not achieving the goal you want when confronted by an attacker? I really don’t think that “I’m not motivated to do anything right now,” is going to make him or her go away – do you?

Softball Sagas and Signature Strengths

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I am arguably the world’s worst softball player. Or certainly would be placed in the lowest identifiable percentile of softball skill levels. I’m one of those players who garners comments from people on the sidelines, such as, “Wow, she must have a lot of other gifts because softball is definitely not one of them.”

During my first game, I sustained a fairly severe concussion when the pitcher slammed the ball into the side of my head. He was quite certain, I’m sure, that he had calculated his trajectory correctly, assuming that no adult woman could run as slowly as I did. Well, he was wrong and he wound up launching a missile-worthy throw straight into the left side of my skull. I still have a dent there. Maybe that should have been a sign to me that softball just isn’t my calling. But I didn’t pay attention. I kept on lurching, hiccupping, and laughing my way through many additional–and entertaining–attempts to master the game.

It actually took me two full seasons to score a run. If I remember correctly, it was the last game of the second season when I finally made it home for the first time. My team’s sole mission for two years was to steward me across home plate in a triumphant, run-scoring parade. Every game held new possibility and every game left hopes dashed. They coined little mantras to chant me on, stood with baited breath each rare event when I actually hit the ball, and offered heartfelt “maybe next times” after each valiant attempt.

On the day I actually scored the run, my teammates were so elated that every single one of them rushed the field to celebrate with me in a rowdy display of support. The other team stood dumbfounded in their positions, wondering what madness had ensued. I mean, it was just a run, right? Not the last game of the World Series. But our team was drunk with joy over my bold triumph against all odds.

The most memorable example of my predisposition to softball ineptitude happened on one of the uncommon occasions when I actually hit the ball. Because I wasn’t accustomed to hitting it, it took a second or two for me to process that I was supposed to start running to first base. By some miraculous coincidence, it seems that the other team didn’t think I would hit the ball either (why would that be?) so they, too, were unprepared to act. Shocked and amazed as I was, I started running. When I realized that they were fumbling around missing the renegade ball, it dawned on me that I might, indeed, make it to first base. Only I would have to run faster to do that.

With enthusiasm, I hit my own little personal turbo charge button and started sprinting toward first. The only problem was that my upper body started running faster than my lower body. Perhaps you know where this is going. Gravity is such that one cannot sustain one’s upper body running faster than one’s lower body for very long. I made this observation at a point when I was hovering at about a 45 degree angle from the ground. I thought to myself, “I wonder how long I can keep this up?” I then realized that, evidently, it wouldn’t be for much longer.

I hit the ground with the force of a speeding freight train (courtesy of my rather ineffective, but powerful, turbo charge) and proceeded to roll four or five times, until I finally came to rest at the side of the dugout. Yes, it was the fence that stopped me from careening any further out of control.

The crowd was deathly silent, wondering if I had broken any bones, wounded my psyche for all of eternity, or a combination of both. After a quick self-assessment to determine that none of these cases applied, I started laughing until I nearly turned blue. Well, actually, I guess I did turn kind of blue. This shade change was made possible by the following sponsors: the rolling wake of a dust storm churned up by my turbo charge and my uncontrollable laughing fit. The combination of these two events effectively yielded an asthma-induced coughing fit for the better part of 20 minutes.

This incident is the talk of our circle of friends. When people say, “It couldn’t have been that bad,” I reluctantly have to affirm that, “Yes, it was that bad. And, unfortunately, I have far too many witnesses to confirm that.” But I always follow up that story with the qualification that we are not all gifted in the same ways. Some people (obviously not me), are talented softball players or sports stars. Others are good with numbers, cars, gourmet cooking, or kids. I’m pretty skilled with words and with people.

Fortunately, I’m surrounded by people who use their gifts in ways that support me in using mine. For instance, Nola, my database wizard, keeps me organized and connected; Kerri my techno-guru, publishes my e-zine; and Debe, my bookkeeping diva, is turning my financial systems into, well, honest-to-goodness financial systems. Now, I can do all of these things–manage databases, e-zines, and accounting records–it’s just that, like softball, it’s not necessarily pretty when I do it. It is far more productive and less stressful for everyone involved when they exercise their gifts in these areas and allow me to exercise my gifts with words and people. When we do that, everyone wins.

And you can do the same. All it takes is learning about what you do best and applying your unique strengths and gifts every day, in every way you can. Your inner genius is second nature to you–it’s what you feel you do best, what yields the best outcomes for you, and what others notice about your unique abilities. When you’re working in your area of expertise, you’ll have nearly unlimited energy, creativity, and growth opportunities associated with it. And, you’ll find that both you and others realize tremendous benefit when you’re using those strengths as often as possible. So, how do you do that? Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

1) Take the “Signature Strengths Survey.” Log on to http://www.authentichappiness.org and click on the link to take the “VIA Signature Strengths Survey” (located in the top left-hand corner of the website). This survey takes about 20 minutes and will help you identify some of your key strengths. Then, look for ways you can use those strengths each day in the different areas of your life–work, relationships, parenting, self-improvement, or other roles. The more you apply your strengths, the more successful and fulfilled you’ll feel in all of these areas.

2) Ask people. Select at least five people from different areas of your life (family, friends, work, etc.) and ask them what they think are your unique gifts–gifts that show up across ALL areas of your life, not just in professional settings. When they respond, simply record their answers and see what themes emerge for you about your signature strengths. Again, look for ways to apply those abilities in all areas of your life on a daily basis.

3) Use other resources and strategies. Check out chapter five in my book, Living With Intention (or the corresponding audio program), for a wide array of other resources for identifying and applying your unique gifts in meaningful ways.

Do these things to gain reassurance that, even though we are not all born to play softball (thankfully, because if we were I’d be in major trouble), we are all born with a unique, inner brilliance just begging to be shared. Once you identify yours and begin using it daily, you will find an unlimited source of fulfillment and success. Give it a try and see where your strengths lead you!

Various Automobile Insurance Deals

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

As insurance costs keep increasing, smart auto owners are looking for discounts on auto insurance. There are many assorted types of discounts available and if you can save a little cash, then why not? Below is a list of general discounts that may be available to you. Check with your insurer to see if you’re eligible.

Individual Car Insurance Price Reductions

These price reductions are usually given based on your performance as a driver and policy owner. The other discounts are given based on your present status in life.

  • Completing A Traffic School Class If by any chance you have been recently ticketed, you may attend traffic school either online or through a traditional setting to have your ticket expunged from your driving history. Indirectly, this will have an effect of lowering your monthly automobile insurance costs
  • Good Student discounts. Insurance underwriters know that students with higher GPAs have a lower risk of being involved in a car accident. Therefore, they will usually offer price reductions on your insurance policy.
  • Professional Credits. Some insurers offer deductions if they belong to certain organizations or profession, like engineers, nurses etc.
  • Senior Citizen Discount. If youre a mature driver, aged 55 or over and have completed a Defensive Driving course being offered by the DMV in your state, then you may qualify for a discount.
  • Loyalty Programs. Staying with the same insurance agent for several years and maintaining a clean driving record will give you a good history with them. Many times, the insurer will reward you with your loyalty with special auto insurance rates.
  • Keep a Clean Driving Record. If you’ve not been involved in any car accidents or have had any tickets for traffic violations, you should be able to get your insurance costs reduced.
  • Multi-line automobile insurance Discount. If you have more than one type of insurance policy with the same automobile insurance firm, many times you’ll also be able to get better rates from them.
  • Vehicle-Related Discounts

Your car is a huge factor in determining how much you’ll be paying for car insurance. Depending on the overall safety and other features of your car, you can receive certain discounts on car insurance.

    1. Car Air Bags. There are multiple types of airbags: front, rear, side-curtain, etc. The greater you’re protected, the cheaper your car insurance rates could be.
    2. Anti-Lock Brakes System (ABS). Many automobiles on the road today are equipped with ABS. Many auto insurance agents offer price reductions if your car is furnished with these types of brakes and many states even require the insurance agent to do so.
    3. Installing Anti-Theft Devices. Any type of add-on to deter someone from breaking into or stealing your car can also provide you with lower insurance rates.

    Take a Leap of Faith

    Thursday, February 19th, 2009

How many of you feel ’stuck’ in a job that doesn’t excite or inspire you? Are you staying put because of security and comfort? Do you dread the thought of being there 5 years from now? If this sounds familiar then it might be time to expand your thinking. You can either continue your life “as is” or choose to take control of your life and ultimate happiness. If you begin this process mapping out a specific plan, you will feel more comfortable embarking on this journey.

You need to spend some time detailing what your passions are, what a realistic goal would be and how you are going to get there. Instead of assuming the task ahead is too difficult, break it down into manageable steps. What are your strengths? What would your ideal position look like? What resources do you need to tap into to give you all the tools you need to make a decision and move forward? All you need to do is set aside some uninterrupted time to put your thoughts on paper and begin the process. Life is too short to go through the motions for the sake of “getting through” another day. Why not wake up excited about the day that lies before you? Everything is possible if you give yourself the opportunity and support to break through your fears and do what you were meant to do.

    ACTION STEPS FOR THE WEEK:

    1. Past and present

What experiences from the past made you feel the most alive? Review your past jobs and life experiences so you can begin to map out your future. Write down everything you gained from past jobs, all of your strengths. What tools can you bring with you to your next opportunity.

    2. Expand your thinking

Part of this process is about opening your mind to all the possibilities. Don’t hold back. What would you love to do? What gets you excited just thinking about it? Create a visual “collage” of what an ideal job would look like? What would you be doing? Who would you surround yourself by? Have fun with this. You can’t create something that isn’t even a thought yet.

    3. Be realistic

This is not about quitting your job today and embarking on your passions. You need to plan for your future, take the necessary steps to get there. Do you need a financial safety net before you move forward? Do you need to discuss your options with family members that it will affect? Be smart about how to go down this path. This week write down what you would need to do to move forward.

    Have a great week!

    Thursday, February 19th, 2009

What is something fun to do on Friday night? People just love to get out and go out during the weekends. They love to hang out with friends and express themselves. One of the best places to go out on Friday night is to the Arcade. This is a perfect spot for getting together and having fun. You could go to your job during the day, or go to your school for studies, after this you could take your Acceletrim solution and play your favorite sport so you can have fun and get healthier, and then at night you could hit the arcade. Meet up with three or five of your friends and grab a small slice of pizza and sit and chat for a while, and then head on over to play arcade games. There are many games to choose from. One of the funnest games to play is air hockey. You could play the best out of five games and have a tournament going with your five friends. The winner can be treated to dinner the next evening. There is also many electronic video games to play. Two to four player games work the best in this scenario so all of you can participate when playing. Next time you are wondering what to do on a Friday night, give the archade some thought and then go, you will end up having a blast.

Is There Any Weapon That The US Military Doesn’t Have?

    Friday, February 13th, 2009

When looking at the United States Military and our incredible advances it seems that we have everything. Our superiority is so vastly unequal in everyway, one can only wonder why anyone would pick a fight with us or wish to have a war with the US.

It seems we have the most advanced Armies, Navy and Air Force, with technology unheard of only a decade ago. Recently I was talking to a man who claimed he was an up and coming aerospace engineer wanting to make a company and sell his wares to the military. He was trying to pick something that the military needed and concentrate on solving that problem and fulfilling that need in a little start up company of his own.

In hearing this noble idea I did an exercise, I gave myself 15-minutes to think of as many things that the US Military needed, but did not currently have. I decided if I could get to 100 within 15-minutes I would stop there. Indeed I did get to 100 items in 14 minutes and so I began to look at the list and then actually came up with about 15 more, which would be variations of some of the ideas I had already listed. I just sat down and wrote these, yet I must have 300-400 more on my website and I get more each day. So finding something the US Military needs, but does not have is not too hard.

But the most important thing that they have but need more of is a public, which is not so caught up in La La Land that they understand the need for such. We are talking about humans here and our civilization and the future of our species has always been about strength. Until that changes, we need to be pressing on and we need a public, which understands the importance of a strong military to protect them. Think on this in 2006.

Potassium and Its Benefits to the Human Body

    Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Potassium is a mineral that serves a variety of purposes within the body. Despite its importance to so many of the body’s functions and systems, most people do not consume the standard recommended daily levels of this essential mineral. This is unfortunate as long-term deficiency can contribute to and even directly cause a variety of health problems and complications not only to the body but to one’s lifestyle as well.

Helping to regulate the body’s fluid levels is one of the mineral potassium’s greatest functions. Not only that but it also has a great part in regulating the blood pressure. It also helps to keep the heart thumping steadily and regularly and is also essential to the nervous system. Potassium works to promote the proper functioning of the tissue that makes up the nervous system. It also serves to enhance muscle control plus the growth and health of cells particularly through its importance in waste product removal. This mineral is also vital to the kidneys in their waste removal tasks. Potassium also plays an important role to mental function as well as to physical processes. It helps to promote efficient cognitive functioning by playing a significant role in getting oxygen to the brain.

Failing to meet the standard recommended daily intake levels can lead to a variety of negative consequences for both physical well being and mental health. Physical symptoms can include muscular cramps and twitching, muscular weakness, even actual muscle damage, poor reflexes, fatigue, fragile bones, irregular heartbeat and other cardiovascular irregularities, kidney failure, lung failure, and cardiac arrest. Mental symptoms can include nervous disorders of various types, anorexia, insomnia, a slowdown of cognitive processes, and depression.

There are certain health situations that can make a person more susceptible to suffering from a deficiency of potassium. These include alcoholism, health conditions requiring the use of certain types of diuretics, periods of high stress and illnesses or conditions that result in extended periods of diarrhea and vomiting. Some situations of our own making can contribute to potassium deficiency. These include excessive caffeine intake and a diet made up of mostly processed foods. Consuming excessive amount of salt daily can also attribute to the decrease of potassium in the human body.

Our bodies are complex systems in which there is a delicate chemical balance that keeps everything functioning as it should. Disruptions to the system are going to have consequences with some being more severe than others. Some of these consequences can take the form of disease or irreversible damage. Prevention is always better than trying to cure illness or repair damage. One of the most important parts of prevention is good nutrition. Making sure that you regularly consume the standard recommended daily intake levels of the vitamins, mineral and other nutrients your body needs is the first vital step in keeping a healthy physic and mind.

But because of today’s lifestyle and diet, it is very hard therefore to intake the proper daily amount of potassium necessary for a normal life. For this concern, nutritional supplements are the solution. They offer an efficient and reliable means of meeting not only our daily potassium needs but also other daily dietary requirements need by the system. Because the balance of nutrients is so important to achieving the optimum standards of performance and health, you may want to consider setting up a consultation with either a licensed nutritionist or your health care provider to create a personalized supplement plan; one that will be best suited to your individual dietary need and health goals.
