Alexandra Burke Speaks about Her Latest Trip to Haiti where She Tried to Raise Awareness of Problems in the Country
Alexandra Burke has been speaking about her latest trip to earthquake-hit Haiti. The Broken Heels singer has family out in the country.
The previous X Factor winner, who sings on the Help for Haiti charity single, expounded that being there made her wish to urge folk to ‘give more’ to help victims of the disaster. Talking with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ITV1’s this A. M. on Monday, Alexandra claimed : “My main reason for going was to come back and bring perception of the situation. “It was in the media for some time and all of a unexpected it just stopped and I believe that people need to grasp the situation in Haiti has not stopped. It’s such a tricky position over there that I felt I was not doing enough by just singing.” “I saw proof of the help coming in – I was with the charity Save the Youngsters – and they and other charities are doing a fine job out there. “Just giving a pound or 5 pounds will help and there’s so many charities out there for everybody to give to and I have seen where the money goes…” Getting emotional, Alexandra added : “It’s not merely an earth quake, there’s much more going on and they need our help and it stings me to see these folks in this position. “I’m in a sanctified position…
It is getting me emotional just talking about it, but they need our help.”.
